MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF OPERATIONS: I am delighted to welcome you to Doveland High School where we provide safe, secure and conducive environment for our students to prepare them adequately and effectively to become valuable and successful citizens in future. At Doveland High School, we believe learning is fun and easier when the school creates a safe and secure environment for the students to thrive. We are fully aware of our students’ emotional, physical, psychological and social needs and always find ways to meet them.
While there is the need to explore the Western styles in learning, it would be fruitless if one cannot comprehend the way it is done at home! This is the reason we run a well-blended curriculum that incorporates British and Nigerian curricula. The end product of this is BECE and Cambridge Checkpoints by the end of Key Stage 3; and SSCE and IGCSE by the end of Key Stage 4 with options of preparing them for SAT, TOEFL, IELTS and some other foreign assessments.
We believe learning has not taken place until the child demonstrates understanding of what has been taught; is influenced by it; and also creates something out of it for the betterment of the society. Therefore, we stress that not all teaching leads to learning. Our teachers understand this; and integrate into their lessons different methods and techniques which affect all the domains of learning – cognitive, affective and psychomotor.
At Doveland High School, we create a stimulating, challenging, nurturing, child centered environment. We want to ensure that every child leaves the school feeling confident of taking the world by storm. In order to connect with our students, we create an atmosphere that promotes individualized instruction. This enable our teachers to touch every member of the class through well-structured and detailed lessons that are delivered by incorporating audio, visual and kinesthetic techniques.
We live in an ever-changing world. Hence, our philosophy has never been about reiterating what happened in the past as much as preparing the students for the future. This is the reason our curriculum focuses on the 4 Cs: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration and Communication. We believe this is what will drive them in future more than the subjects they offer in school.
At the end of it all, we are certain that our products will be high quality students who have been able to explore and understand the scope of studying anywhere in the world while at home! We are also confident that passing through the Doveland culture is a passport to becoming the best in whatever you intend to do in future.
